Again, comments and expansions are welcome. - - MaPhi Houses of Hermes Errata 04/12/95 There have been some rumors that the Greater Alps Tribunal is no longer in existence. I think I can deny those - the only information about that found in HoH is in the location of the domi magnae of Criamon and Jerbiton, that should be in Greater Alps, but are stated as belonging to Rhine Tribunal. However, this mistake is as old as OoH! So, I assume that there still is a Greater Alps Tribunal, with the Cave and Valnastium - it's only a very old typo still alive. I still do not know on which date the "Age of Aries" is placed. The correct age would be the age of Pisces. The age of Aries ended, not started, 139 BC. Although it is mentioned for all Houses what one has to do to get entrance, and that an apprentice can choose another House than his master's one, the whole procedure of changing Houses is not explained enough. In OoH, p.61, it was explained a little better, but this paragraph didn't make it into HoH. I do not particulary like the format in which the spells of the Magi are presented. They are sorted according to level instead of Form, and the Technique and Form are not given. p. 17: Form of the Avenging Beast is one of the most-criticized spells ever. It incorporates Endurance of the Berserkers (ReCo 15) and Gift of the Bear's Fortitude (MuCo 30), only better, and all those boni on Attack and Damage that would need a level 30-50 spell each, if allowed at all. For a mere level 20, this is too much! And, since it works on the Heart-Beast, why is there no Anim=A0l-Requisite? p. 20: Cygna has not enough Twilight points. She has at least two, plus those from her Flaw, totaling around five. Her Casting Totals also are all miscalculated (except Circling Winds of Protection and The Gentle Beast), the Stamina is not in there. Fog of Confusion +20 (Im Req.) Talons of the Wind +21, Lungs of the Fish +21 (Au Req.). The Attack score with her self bow is +6, since it is calculated with Per, not with Dex. p. 28: Martin has a dodge score of -6, not +2. Eyes of the Past +25, Change the Nature of Vis +19 (Rituals, and Metitation is not counted in), Eye of the Sage +23 (Im Req.), Tongue of Birds and Fish +21 (Au and Aq Req.), Whisper through the Black Gate +24 (Me Req.), Whispering Winds and Investigate Air +21 (theses spells are Auram, not Animal! Sorry that I forgot to give you the Casting Totals...). Wizard's Subtle Touch should be Mastered. p. 33: The Cave of Twisting Shadows is in the Greater Alps Tribunal, not in the Rhine Tribunal. p. 38: Conquer's Stamina is also missing in all Casting Totals. Talons of the Wind and Curse of the Desert +26 (the one is Au, not Aq, and vice versa). Enchantment of the Scrying Pool +22 (Meditation). Also, his Affinity is not added to the Totals and should be taken in seperately. p. 46: Slow Spontaneaos Magic is too restricting for a mere 2 points of Flaws. A minute per magnitude would be a better time. Compare with the regular Flaw Slow Caster (-3). p. 50: Agnes. Intuition of the Forest +11. It should be noted more clearly that she has her Affinity specialized on Ghosts (otherwise, all Ghost-C.T. are one point too high). p. 60: Rulia. Aegis of the Heart + 16, Circular Ward ag. Demons +16, Snap of Awakening +22. Hand Attack +2, Dagger Parry +1, Shield 1st -1, Shield Attack +5 (+2 when Offhand). Also, her Encumbrance is not figured into her Casting Totals. p. 69: The spell "Ashes to Ashes" should be "Dust to Dust". p. 70: Andeas. Whispers through the Black Gate +20 (Me Req.). p. 78: Enomil. The rock crystal globe is a talisman that gives her the +5 to all Intellego spells. The sword does not have such a bonus. These +5 are missing in all Casting Totals and should be added when she has the globe with her. The spell on her robes (Strengthen the Shielding Sark) was invented by Jehan. It has a duration of Sun./Inst. and gives a plant-based piece of cloth (linen etc.) a protection value of a simple die. p. 78: Gliocas. The familiar powers of Raedbora are wrong here. The description of the invisibility-power is missing. Per point of Faerie Might spent, Gliocas can be invisible for one hour. During this period, he can change between visibility and invisibility at will. This power does not affect other faeries, demons or those with Second Sight. p. 79: Seumas' Pater was subject to Wizard's March, not Wizard's War. Same on page 80. p. 88: Calum misses the Gruagach Virtues. Add Curse +2, Geasa +2 and Shapeshift +3 to his list. When he founded the Covenant in 988, as it is hinted on page 87, he can't be mere 135. A more accurate number for his age is 297. p. 89: Cagair's does not have the invisibility-power. p. 90: Domnhull misses his Premonition-ability, only the Virtue is present. Add Premonitions (magical assault) 4 to his abilities. p. 92: Aonghus Lamh Iarran names are mixed up once and once again on page 93. p. 93: Donncadh's Feud is not influenced by demons. Reduce the value of the flaw to -3. Chapter 6: Character Creation p.113: Transform says that Natural and Magical Resistance apply, but no Natural Resistance roll is given. The MR is subtracted from the Casting Roll of the Gruagach, as noted beforehand. Chapter 7: Scenario Ideas p.118: The schism war was not fought by House Tytalus, but House Tremere p.120: Brude Deathless misses the obligatory Gruagach Virtues. Add Curse +2, Geasa +2 and Shapeshift +3 to his list. p.125: Giants. Some Body and Fatigue Levels are missing. They are: OK, 0/0/0/0, -1/-1/-1, -3/-3, -6, Inc. p.126: Giants. They also lack some Body and Fatigue levels. They are: OK, 0/0/0/0, -1/-1/-1, -3/-3, -6/-6, Inc. They also have no magical abilities. Change Prs to +6. p.128: Lord Ghoulis' age should be 56. If you find his Characteristics too for his age, make those 18 Aging Rolls for him yourself. However, it can be assumed that his master took care of his aging. p.129: Aesfotedia is promissed to be explained, but is nowhere. It is Infernal Vis, and a diabolic mage can use it for any spell, substituting it for any Art-specific Vis. It can be changed into any other Vis type, as regular vis. However, when tested with Sense the Nature of Vis, it has the same color as Vim, and a Per+Occult Lore of 12+ is needed to spot the difference. If someone uses Aesfotedia as Vim Vis (except with Change the Nature of Vis), the spell automatically botches. p.130: Aesfotedia again. Appendix 1: Character Templates General critique: Almost all Templates use too many XP for their age, and noone has a vitue to justify chainmail and other expensive goods. Everyone has to solve this himself. As long as the Templates are NPC's, there's no problem with that, but before making them PC's, you should check them over. p.135: Clansman Str +3, Per -3. p.139: Merchant Per +1. Add Scottish (bargain) 5 to his Abilities. The description is completely wrong, it's the one from Clanchief. It is: You had a thriving cattle business in one of the Royal Burghs, but a series of robberies (including one where you were almost killed) forced you to seek more powerful aid than the handful of stockmen you had. The strange-looking fellow that visited town every year seemed to have no trouble traveling the country, and accepted your pleas for help. Now you 'front' for the magi; giving them rooms to stay while they're in town, buying and passing on laboratory ware, etc. Despite your wealth you have many debts, especially gambling debts. p.140: The Monk has no confidence (Faith subsitudes Confidence) p.141: Chieftain +3 Per Wisewoman Per +4, although all attributes are too high for someone of 50 years. Make her aging rolls before using her. p.142: Stormwitch. The Affinity has been forgotten with all casting totals. So, "Gathering the Stormy Might" is +28, "Quiet the Raging Winds" +25 and "Sailor's Foretaste of the Morrow" +16 p.143: Quaesitor. Qik -1, and the Affinity is also missing in the casting totals. He also has only 145 levels of spells. p.144: Shapeshifter. Will over Form is +2 (Battleworty forms), not +3. I would vote it useless, however, since she has no Heartbeast at all. Anyway, it is an affinity for self-transformation, and this is missing in all casting totals. The two bird-spells are illegal completely since her Auram is not high enough to learn them, with Auram beeing requisite for birds. Her Stamina is +1. p.145: The Hare surely is no magus template, but an animal. It belongs around page 55. It surely has not the Virtues and Flaws of the Ghillie, but has none. It neither has the Combat Totals of the Ghilie. Its totals are Dodge +6, Soak +0, Fatigue +1 p.146: Gruagach misses his list of powers and his XT virtues. These are Enchanting Music (singing) 3, Healer (cuts) 3 and Shapeshift (hare) 4. He needs the Virtues Shapeshift +3 and Healer +1. Ways of the Wood should be removed for this.
