The only knowledge of these three magi of the Terginum Excubitoris comes from their introductory comments to the magus Cain in Scene 35 of Chapter 2, The Wounded King:

The tallest, cloaked all in robes of grey except for a single red sash about his waist, steps forward. "I am Segontiaco, filius Graculus, in traditionibus Guernici." The man to his right, young and slim and pale-skinned, clothed in skins and furs, speaks: "Geryon, filius Dartorix, in traditionibus Bjornaer et Guernici." The third man, broad, solid, and exceedingly plain, shuffles a slow pace forward and speaks in a gravelly low voice: "Durior, filius Dacius Maximian, in traditionibus Guernici."

The wizards eye each other steadily for a moment, before the red-sashed one speaks to Cain, in a tone as cold and emotionless as a glacier:

"We are the Terginum Excubitoris. Who are you?"
