I was not thinking too much about specific religious aspects. Elijiah could certainly be called a Kabbalist. The communities may not necessarily be Jewish, although I suspect that there will be at least one Jewish community that by nature of its litterate tradition will pass on the Elijiah myth quite faithfully [grin]. The teaching is not neccesarily about magic but in the ways of the world (certainly at some point the boy will learn a number of tricks). Elijiah appeared out of nowhere to these peasants, and I'm sure he will exit the same way in time. Perhaps Elijiah is not Jewish, or anything in particular. The one thing I know is that he will have a huge influence culturally and socially wherever he goes.

I don't know the rules at all so I can't really comment on what category Elijiah may relate to. Andres is certainly an apprentice to knowledge, but not necessarily to magic. Though I'm sure he will pick up some tricks from his 'master'.
