T h e D e a d f i r e S a g a
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STARTING DATE: December 1st 1994 (tentative)
SESSION SCHEDULE: weekly, to be announced
STANDARD RULES: _Ars Magica, 3rd ed._
SETTING:
Mythic Europe, somewhere on the Hungarian
coast of the Adriatic Sea, 1325 AD.
ATMOSPHERE:
Dark Fantasy. From _AM_ p. 345, "This atmosphere involves
horrific settings, and demonic and angelic forces in direct
confrontation. Conventions: Enemies are extremely realistic.
Grisly acts are common, and death often visits the unwary.
There are some fates that are worse than death in this
atmosphere. Wizards are usually grim reflections of their
environment and are dangerous to say the least. Monsters are
often legends in their own environment are are not to be
taken lightly. What is good and what is evil is a subject of
much debate. Europe is not a place for the meek."

Interested players should e-mail me ASAP with a *FULL* schedule of times
you will be available and unavailable each week for this month and next.
I have the basic saga concepts and motifs outlined; I expect to finish
most of the campaign background and introductary materials finished this
weekend. _Ars Magica_ involves fairly detailed character generation, and
covenant generation (the 'home base' for the Saga) takes a good bit of
player consensus; so once we get a working player list and I supply you
with the background and introduction, I'd like to see a week's worth of
e-mail discussion over your character and covenant ideas. First session
would be for the creation of the covenant's Mages; second session for
Companions and Grogs and fleshing out the covenant itself. We can start
play after that, maybe have 2-3 sessions before winter break. That
should be enough for me to get a feel for the direction in which you want
the Saga to go, and I'll use break to generate two or three adventures
worth of new material.

p.s. Those of you (Doug, Pete, Lydia) who played in my last campaign feel
free to describe my style and plot-typology to those who haven't. Those
of you who've played _AM_ (or read the rules, anyway) in the past, feel
free to outline the basics of the game. -mgs
p.p.s. Hope to have a WWW Home Page up in the next month or so. Thinking
about keeping campaign stuff (background, intro. materials, session
summaries, character summaries, etc.) online there for perusal by all. -mgs
p.p.p.s. Please forward the hell out of this, to anyone you think would
be intersted. Thanks. -mgs
