Alternative Longevity Potions

Dear Mike,

Is there just the teensy possibility that Alanus could use his knowledge of Herbam (and his wacky pseudo-Diedne training) to make longevity potions? After all, trees do live to be immensely old, and the Highlander's Magic Theory speciality is Potions. Could he experiment to this end? Of course, the side effects would be interesting . . .

Yes ... Alanus could use Herbam instead of Corporem. But keep in mind that the word you're looking for to describe the effect is not "interesting" -- it's closer to "grievous". As in, each time you take the potion, you move significantly closer to being a tree. And so with Twilight Points. So expect to slow down, become less attentive, more sedentary, grow bark and leaves ... when you enter Final Twilight, you become an actual tree, which, mellow as that may be, removes the character entirely from play excepting those special occasions when someone uses an Intellego Herbam to rouse your sleeping semi-sentience.

Because I consider the Corporem/Herbam switch to be so vital to the effects of the potion, you can expect the changes to begin immediately, and to proceed rapidly.

Basically, the price I as Storyguide would charge for this rules hack is the fast, irreversible loss of whatever passes for "humanity" among the people of the Concilium. I consider the rule that important.
